Wildomar Fence and Deck builds covered patios, patio covers, wood fences, pergolas, and outdoor structures for Sun City homeowners. We have been working on homes in Sun City and the surrounding Menifee area since 2020, and we know the Del Webb-era homes, aging concrete, and Inland Empire heat conditions that define outdoor projects in this community.

Sun City was developed by Del Webb starting in 1960 as one of California's first planned retirement communities, and most homes were built between 1960 and the mid-1970s. That puts the housing stock at 50 to 65 years old - an age range where original outdoor structures are well past their expected service life. Wood porch railings, patio covers, and fences installed during the original construction have been through decades of Inland Empire heat, occasional frost, and periodic Santa Ana wind events that push gusts above 60 mph. What looks functional from a distance often has underlying rot, loose connections, or footing deterioration that makes replacement more practical than repair.
The climate adds a layer of urgency to deferred maintenance on outdoor structures here. Sun City summers regularly see temperatures above 100 degrees, which accelerates the breakdown of wood sealers, stucco coatings, and lower-grade lumber. Santa Ana winds, which blow through western Riverside County every fall and winter, put lateral load on fences and patio cover posts that aging structures are not always equipped to handle. Because Sun City is an unincorporated community within Riverside County rather than its own city, permits and inspections run through the county rather than a city building department - a process that works the same way but through a different office than contractors who only work in incorporated cities may be used to.
Our crew works in Sun City regularly and we understand the single-story ranch homes, the concrete flatwork conditions, and the permitting process that go with working in this community. Because Sun City is unincorporated, building permits route through the Riverside County Building and Safety Division rather than a city office. We have pulled permits through the county on projects in Sun City and know what the submittals require for patio covers, deck additions, and fence replacements.
Sun City sits in the western part of Riverside County, surrounded almost entirely by the City of Menifee, which incorporated in 2008. Most of the shopping, medical offices, and services that Sun City residents use daily are within Menifee's boundaries. Bradley Road and Newport Road are the two main corridors through Sun City, and the community's residential streets branch off from those routes in the classic grid pattern of a Del Webb planned development. Homes here are compact, well-maintained by owner-occupants who have often lived in them for decades, and situated on lots where a covered patio or updated fence makes a genuine difference in daily use of the outdoor space.
From Sun City, we regularly serve neighboring Perris to the north and the surrounding Menifee area, both of which share the same clay soil base, summer heat, and seasonal wind conditions.
Reach out by phone or through the online form. We respond within one business day to talk through your project and determine whether we need to come out for a site visit or can answer preliminary questions first.
We visit your Sun City property, assess the concrete, check the condition of any existing structures, take measurements, and talk through your options. There is no charge for the visit, and you receive an itemized written quote with no obligation to commit.
We handle the Riverside County building permit application for your project, including the site plan and product specifications. County review typically takes one to three weeks. We keep you informed of where things stand so the permit timeline does not catch you off guard.
Most Sun City patio cover and fence projects take two to five days of active work once permits are in hand. We do a final walkthrough with you at completion and schedule any required inspection so you are not left managing county inspectors on your own.
We serve Sun City, Menifee, and surrounding Riverside County communities. Free site visit, written quote, no obligation.
(951) 618-5829Sun City is an unincorporated community in western Riverside County with a population of roughly 27,000 to 28,000 residents. It was developed by Del Webb beginning in 1960 as one of California's first planned retirement communities, and the 55-and-older age requirement still applies today. Almost all of the homes are single-story ranch-style houses built between 1960 and the mid-1970s, ranging from roughly 1,000 to 1,800 square feet, on small to medium lots with concrete driveways, covered patios, and concrete block walls that are now 50 or more years old. The community has one of the highest owner-occupancy rates in the Inland Empire, reflecting the long-term stability of a retirement-focused neighborhood.
Because Sun City is unincorporated, it does not have its own city hall, building department, or code enforcement office. All permitting runs through Riverside County, and most services residents rely on daily - grocery stores, medical offices, restaurants - are located within the City of Menifee, which surrounds Sun City on most sides. The two communities are effectively one connected area in daily life. For outdoor home improvement projects, the most common needs in Sun City are replacing aging wood structures, adding patio covers to improve outdoor usability, and updating fencing that has reached the end of its original life. Nearby Canyon Lake to the west and Hemet to the east are both within our regular service area and share many of the same construction-era and climate conditions.
